Back in the Emerald City

We spent the past four days visiting our good friends, Missy and Mark, in Seattle, Washington. It was great to be back at our old stomping grounds.

Our first stop from the airport was at Pike Place Market - the famous public market on the Seattle waterfront. The fishmongers served us some fresh dungeness crab cocktail that was absolutley amazing!

Pike Place sells beautiful bouquets of flowers from $5-$15. I wish they sold for those prices in NY!

We stopped by the first Starbucks coffeehouse which opened in 1971.

We enjoyed some Tully's coffee as well, another big coffeehouse in Seattle.

Downtown Seattle view from Kerry Park on the southern slope of Queen Anne Hill.

Spring has sprung in Seattle.

Going for our morning walk around Green Lake in northern Seattle.

View of downtown and the Puget Sound from West Seattle.

Bike riding along Alki Beach in West Seattle. It was the first warm day so lots of people were out and about. Some people were even swimming which was a little crazy.

Puget Sound with the Olympic Mountains in the distance.

Pike Place at night

At Starbucks again, using Missy's 30% discount.

We did a ghost tour of downtown Seattle. The meeting place for the tour was at The Market Theater Gum Wall. As you can see, the wall is literally covered with used chewing gum. The scariest sight on the ghost tour was this wall...gross. We dared each other to lick it but none of us were brave enough.

In the 1980s, the wooden floors of the market were replaced by tiles. People could pay $35 to have their name inscribed on a tile. Amongst the tiles, there is one purchased from Heaven's Gate suicide cult...creepy.

Wine tasting at the Columbia Winery in Woodinville.

Beer tasting at the Red Hook Brewery in Woodinville.

We had so much fun with all our tastings that we bought matching shirts!
